A graduate in economics from the University of Neuchâtel in Switzerland, Patrick Scherrer began his career at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC, today Hewlett-Packard) in Geneva, in 1982.

He developed several successful innovative pan-European technology initiatives and he was appointed European Technical Director, Corporate Strategic Alliances, in 1992. After leaving DEC, he joined AT&T, in 1995, as Director, Strategy & New Business Development, for AT&T International Value Added Services corporation where he participated to the development of AT&T-Unisource. In 1998, he co-founded the European Tech Tour association, where he remains an active Vice-President. During the same year, he joined Venture Partners, a private equity firm, covering high-tech, bio-technology and life science sectors: he left the firm in 2003 as an Investment Partner.

Since 2004, he is CEO of Widmann Associates who is the exclusive partner in Life Science for Vinci Capital. In 2007 he contributed in founding Vinci Life Science where he acts as Director.
